Party favors are the little thank-you guests carry home, and edible favors are the ones that actually get enjoyed. Chocolate dipped pretzels, Oreos, Rice Krispy treats and bags of popcorn are some of the most popular favors we make, because they hold their shape, can be colored to match any theme and look great on a favor table. This guide explains which dipped treats make the best favors, how many to order, how to choose colors and how to keep them looking fresh.

Why Dipped Treats Make Great Party Favors

Dipped treats are sturdy, colorful and easy to package, so they survive the trip home in a bag or a car seat. Unlike frosted cupcakes, they do not smudge when they are bagged or stacked.

They also give you a lot of design freedom. Chocolate can be colored to match your party, drizzled in a contrasting color, covered in sprinkles or decorated to fit a theme. A table of matching favors makes the whole party look planned, even if everything else is simple.

The Best Dipped Treats for Favors

Each of these treats has a minimum of 6 per order, so you can mix two or three kinds for variety.

Pretzel rods are a favorite for school colors and sports themes, while popsicle-shaped Rice Krispy treats are a hit at kids' parties.

How Many Favors Should You Order?

Plan one favor per guest or per household, plus a few extras for surprise guests and helpers. If your favor is a set, such as two pretzels and an Oreo in one bag, multiply by the number of pieces in each bag.

  • Kids' birthday with 15 children: 18 favors, one per child plus a few for siblings.
  • Baby shower with 30 guests: 30 to 32 favors, one per guest.
  • Wedding with 80 guests: about 40 to 45 favors if you give one per couple or household, or 80 or more for one per guest.

When favors double as dessert, order a little more. If you also want a dessert table, a party package covers both with matching colors.

Choosing Colors and Themes

Pick two or three colors from your invitation or decorations and repeat them across your favors. A base color for the chocolate with a contrasting drizzle or sprinkle looks clean and coordinated.

  • Baby shower: soft pink or blue with white drizzle, or gender-neutral sage and cream.
  • Graduation: school colors, with a gold drizzle for a dressy finish.
  • Sports party: team colors on pretzel rods and Oreos.
  • Birthday: the guest of honor's favorite colors, or a theme they love.
  • Holidays: orange and black for Halloween, red and green for Christmas, pastels for Easter.

Packaging and Presentation Ideas

Clear bags tied with ribbon are the classic favor packaging, because they show off the colors. Add a small tag with a thank-you message or the guest's name to make it personal.

  1. Choose clear treat bags or small boxes that fit the treat without crushing it.
  2. Tie with ribbon in one of your party colors.
  3. Add a tag: "Thanks for celebrating with us," the event name and the date.
  4. Arrange favors on a tray or in a basket near the exit, so guests remember to take one.
  5. For a dessert-table display, stand pretzel rods upright in a jar or vase for height.

How to Store Dipped Favors

Keep chocolate-dipped favors in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight until the party. Chocolate softens in warm rooms and hot cars, which can blur drizzles and sprinkles.

Refrigeration is not usually needed for dipped pretzels, Oreos, Rice Krispy treats or popcorn, and moisture from the refrigerator can leave chocolate looking dull or spotty when it warms up again. On hot days, keep favors indoors with air conditioning until you hand them out. Dipped strawberries are different: they are perishable and belong in the refrigerator, as our strawberry storage guide explains.

Allergy Notes for Favors

Because favors go home with guests, add a small label if a treat contains common allergens. Pretzels and Oreos contain wheat, chocolate commonly contains milk, and cookies and creme popcorn is made with Oreos and white chocolate.

If you know a guest has an allergy, tell us before you order so we can talk through options, and keep that guest's favor clearly marked.

Party Favor Questions

What is the minimum order for dipped pretzels and Oreos?

Dipped pretzels, dipped Oreos and dipped Rice Krispy treats each have a minimum of 6 per order, and popcorn bags have a minimum of 6 bags. You can mix several kinds in one order to build favor bags with variety.

Can you match party favors to my theme?

Yes. Dipped treats can be colored, drizzled, sprinkled or decorated to fit your theme. Share your colors, invitation or a photo when you send your order request, and we will confirm the design options and pricing before you pay your deposit.

How far ahead can I pick up party favors?

Dipped pretzels, Oreos, Rice Krispy treats and popcorn hold up well for a short time in a cool, dry place, so picking them up a day or two before your event usually works. Ask about timing when you order, especially for summer parties.
