Halloween is one of the easiest holidays to plan treats for, because orange, black, purple and green look festive on almost anything. A themed cupcake, a dipped pretzel rod or a bag of colored candied popcorn can carry the whole look of a party. This guide walks you through the treats that work best for class parties, trunk-or-treat nights and family gatherings, how many to order and when to place your order for Halloween 2026.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, October 31, 2026. Strixly Cupcakes is open for pickups that day from 11 am to 2 pm, and on Thursday and Friday evenings before it. That means the order deadline for Halloween week is Tuesday, October 27 at 5 pm.

Which Treats Work Best for a Halloween Party?

The best Halloween treats are easy to grab, easy to color and easy to hand out. Individually portioned sweets like cupcakes, cake pops, cakesicles and dipped pretzels let guests take one and keep moving, which matters at a busy party.

  • Themed cupcakes are the anchor of most Halloween tables. Orange and black swirls, purple and green "monster" colors, or a simple spooky topper all work.
  • Dipped pretzel rods and twists are sturdy, salty-sweet and travel well, so they are a good pick for school parties.
  • Cake pops and cakesicles add height and color to a dessert table and are easy for small hands.
  • Dipped Rice Krispy treats can be shaped like a popsicle or cut into rectangles and dipped in colored chocolate.
  • Candied popcorn can be colored to match your event and bagged, which makes it a natural party favor.

Most party treats have a minimum of 6 per order, so you can mix several kinds without ordering huge quantities of any one item.

Planning Treats for a Class Party

For a classroom party, plan one main treat per child plus a few extras, and check the school's rules before you order. Many schools have guidelines about food allergies, and some ask parents to send treats that are individually wrapped or bagged.

Ask the teacher for the exact head count and whether siblings, teachers or parent helpers will be there too. A simple plan that works well:

  • One cupcake or cake pop per child, plus two or three extra for adults and surprises
  • A second, lighter option such as dipped pretzels or popcorn bags if the party is long
  • Napkins and a sturdy box or tray so treats arrive in one piece

Cake pops and pretzels are less messy than frosted cupcakes for younger children. If you love the look of cupcakes, keep the frosting swirl simple so it holds up in a classroom.

Treats for Trunk-or-Treat and Neighborhood Events

For trunk-or-treat events, choose treats that can be bagged and handed out quickly, such as candied popcorn bags, dipped Oreos or dipped pretzels. These hold their shape better than frosted cupcakes when kids are carrying them around in a candy bag.

Trunk-or-treat has become a popular alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating at churches, schools and community lots, because families can visit many decorated cars in one safe place. If you are decorating a trunk, a few dozen bagged treats in your theme colors can make your car the one kids remember. Ask the organizer how many families usually attend so you can plan your count.

Halloween Colors and Themes That Photograph Well

Bold, high-contrast colors photograph best: orange with black, purple with green, or white with black accents. When you order, tell us your colors and the feel you want, from cute to spooky, and send a reference photo if you have one.

A few theme ideas that work across cupcakes, pops and pretzels:

  • Candy corn colors: white, orange and yellow layers, a nod to the classic Halloween candy
  • Monster mash: bright green, purple and orange with candy eyes
  • Black and gold: a grown-up look for adult parties
  • Pumpkin patch: orange with a touch of green for younger kids and fall festivals

Character themes are popular too. Share what your child loves and we can talk through options during your free consultation.

How Many Halloween Treats Should You Order?

Plan about two to three dessert pieces per guest if you are serving a mix of treats, or one cupcake per guest if cupcakes are the only dessert. Halloween parties often include candy too, so you can lean toward the lower end.

For larger gatherings, a themed variety package bundles cake pops, cupcakes, pretzels, small apples, Rice Krispy treats and popcorn bags in one order. Our guide on how many cupcakes you need for a party has more worked examples.

Allergy and Safety Tips for Halloween

Label treats that contain common allergens, and ask about allergies before a class or group party. Some of our menu items contain peanuts, such as Reese's cupcakes, and some contain tree nuts, such as pecans on turtle cupcakes.

  • Tell us about any allergy in your group before you order so we can talk through which treats make sense.
  • Keep cream cheese fillings and cheesecake treats cold until serving.
  • Carry treats flat on the floor of your car, not on a seat, so decorations stay intact. Our transport tips explain more.

Halloween 2026 Ordering Timeline

Order themed Halloween treats a week or more ahead, and no later than 5 pm on Tuesday, October 27 for pickup during Halloween week. Custom designs and party packages need the most lead time, and the days right before a holiday fill up first.

  1. Now to October 20: choose your treats and colors, and send your order request with your pickup day and time.
  2. When you order: pay a deposit of half your total to secure your treats.
  3. Thursday, October 29 or Friday, October 30: evening pickups from 4:30 to 8:30 pm, ideal for Friday class parties.
  4. Saturday, October 31: pickups from 11 am to 2 pm for Halloween parties that evening.

Holiday weeks can get busy, so confirm your pickup slot when your order is accepted. For other holidays, our holiday pre-order guide shows when to order.

Halloween Treat Questions

Can you make Halloween treats for a school party?

Yes. Cake pops, cupcakes, dipped pretzels and bagged popcorn all work well for class parties. Check your school's food rules first, especially about allergies and wrapping, then tell us the class size and your colors so we can plan the right number of treats.

What is the last day to order for Halloween 2026?

Same-week orders close at 5 pm on Tuesday, so the last day to order for Halloween week is Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Ordering a week or two earlier is safer for custom designs and large orders, because holiday weeks fill quickly.

Which Halloween treats travel best?

Dipped pretzels, dipped Oreos, cake pops and bagged popcorn travel best because they have no tall frosting to smudge. If you choose cupcakes, keep them in their box, carry them flat on the car floor and avoid leaving them in a hot car.
