Cheesecake Shooters for Parties: Portions, Flavors and Serving Tips

Cheesecake shooters are small cups of cheesecake made for parties. Instead of slicing a whole cheesecake and plating it, you set out a tray of individual cups and let guests help themselves. They look elegant on a dessert table, they are easy to portion and they suit everything from baby showers to office receptions. This guide covers our flavors, how many to order, how to keep them safely cold and a few ways to display them.
What Are Cheesecake Shooters?
Cheesecake shooters are single servings of cheesecake in small disposable cups. Ours are placed in 2 oz. cups, the size of a shot glass, and sold in sets of 25.
The small size is the point. Guests can enjoy a few creamy bites without committing to a full slice, which is ideal after a meal or at an event with several desserts. Because each serving sits in its own cup, there is no cutting, no plates and very little mess. See cheesecake shooters on our menu for current options.
Flavors to Choose From
Our cheesecake shooters come in regular, strawberry, chocolate and red velvet cheesecake, and regular or strawberry can be finished with a strawberry topping.
| Flavor | What it is like | Great for |
|---|---|---|
| Regular cheesecake | Classic, creamy and tangy | Any crowd; the safest choice |
| Regular with strawberry topping | Classic cheesecake with a fruity, glossy top | Showers, brunches, spring and summer |
| Strawberry cheesecake | Strawberry flavor throughout | Pink themes and Valentine's Day |
| Strawberry with strawberry topping | Double strawberry | Strawberry lovers |
| Chocolate cheesecake | Rich and chocolatey | Kids, chocolate fans, evening events |
| Red velvet cheesecake | Mild cocoa with a red color | Holidays, graduations in red school colors |
Offering two or three flavors makes the tray more colorful and gives guests a choice.
How Many Cheesecake Shooters to Order
When shooters are one of several desserts, plan about one per guest. When they are the main dessert, plan one and a half to two per guest, since the cups are small and many people take a second.
- 25 guests with other desserts: one set of 25.
- 50 guests, shooters plus cupcakes: two sets of 25, in two flavors.
- 40 guests, shooters as the main dessert: three sets of 25 (75 shooters).
For a full dessert table, combine shooters with handheld treats like cake pops and dipped strawberries. Our dessert table ideas walk through a balanced layout.
Keeping Cheesecake Shooters Safe and Cold
Cheesecake is perishable, so keep shooters refrigerated until shortly before serving and do not leave them out for long. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service advises never leaving food between 40 and 140°F for more than two hours, or more than one hour when it is above 90°F (USDA FSIS).
That matters for parties in Southwest Arkansas, where summer afternoons are often hot. A few simple habits keep your dessert table safe:
- Bring shooters home promptly after pickup and put them straight in the refrigerator.
- Set out only part of the tray at a time and refill from the refrigerator.
- For outdoor events, nest the cups in a shallow tray of ice or keep them in a cooler until serving.
- Throw away shooters that have sat out longer than the guideline above.
How to Display Cheesecake Shooters
Shooters look best lined up in neat rows or on tiers, where guests can see the colors and layers. Height and repetition make even a simple table look polished.
- Tiered stand: great for showers and weddings; it saves table space.
- Rows on a tray: alternate flavors to create a pattern, such as red velvet, regular, red velvet.
- Labels: a small card for each flavor helps guests choose and helps anyone with allergies.
- Spoons: set out small spoons in a cup next to the tray so guests do not have to look for them.
Events Where Cheesecake Shooters Shine
Cheesecake shooters work wherever you want an elegant dessert without plates and slicing. They are especially popular at:
- Baby and bridal showers: pretty, portioned and easy to eat while mingling.
- Weddings and receptions: a dessert table addition next to the cake.
- Office parties and meetings: grab-and-go and tidy.
- Graduations and church events: simple to serve to a crowd.
- Holiday dinners: a light option after a big meal, as in our Thanksgiving dessert ideas.
Cheesecake Shooters vs. a Whole Cheesecake
A whole cheesecake suits a sit-down dinner where someone can slice and plate it. Shooters suit standing events and buffets, where self-serve portions keep the line moving.
Shooters also take the guesswork out of portion size: everyone gets the same amount, and you know exactly how many servings you have. If you love cheesecake flavors in other forms, try our jumbo strawberry cheesecake stuffed cupcake or cheesecake-stuffed strawberries.
Allergy Notes
Cheesecake contains milk and eggs, and crusts or toppings may contain wheat. If any guest has a food allergy, ask us about ingredients before you order and label the flavors on your table.
Picking Up and Transporting Shooters
Plan your pickup close to your event and take the shooters straight to a refrigerator. Keep the tray flat and level in the car, on the floor rather than a seat, so the cups do not tip.
- Bring a cooler with ice packs if your drive is long or the weather is warm.
- Do not leave shooters in a parked car, even for a quick errand.
- If you are setting up a venue, ask whether there is a refrigerator you can use until dessert time.
These same habits help with any perishable dessert, from cream cheese frosted cupcakes to cheesecake-stuffed strawberries. Our transport guide covers more.
Cheesecake Shooter Questions
How big is a cheesecake shooter?
Our cheesecake shooters are served in 2 oz. disposable cups, about the size of a shot glass. That is a few rich, creamy bites per cup, which is why many guests enjoy one or two alongside other desserts at a party.
How long can cheesecake shooters sit out at a party?
Keep them out no longer than two hours, or one hour if it is above 90°F, following USDA food safety guidance. Set out part of the tray at a time, keep the rest refrigerated and refill as needed, especially at outdoor summer events.
Can I order more than one flavor?
Yes. Shooters are sold in sets of 25, so ordering two or three sets lets you offer different flavors, such as regular with strawberry topping and red velvet. Mixing flavors also makes your dessert table more colorful and gives guests a choice.
